The story of Solid Dark begins with Kevin Stäger. Under his artist alias Kevqube, he has been deeply immersed in the world of techno since 2018—though his background in music runs deeper, having DJed and run events since 2012 under his former EDM alias, Fat-K. In 2018, Stäger co-founded his first techno label, BUNKR, alongside Kai Uner. After releasing tracks and hosting three events between 2018 and 2020, the project entered a pandemic-induced hiatus, eventually leading Stäger to connect with Solidarity in 2022. Upon joining the Swiss label, he quickly recognized the immense potential within the collective. While Solidarity maintained a broad musical spectrum and a more commercially accessible approach, Stäger felt the need to carve out a specific niche: raw, unadulterated underground techno. His goal was to consistently promote this sound without abandoning the synergies and established foundation of Solidarity. This led to the birth of Solid Dark – a name that honors its origins while clearly defining its sonic direction.

Together with David Kawka, Stäger laid the groundwork for the project. Operating under the banner Solid Dark by Solidarity, they launched a hybrid model that went far beyond a traditional record label. Parallel to the label’s founding, they established their own event series to bring the music to life where it unfolds its true power: in dark, energetic club nights. This dual approach allowed them to create a direct connection between the producers and the dance floor.

The year 2025 marks a decisive turning point in the history of Solid Dark. By bringing Juan Vazquez (alias Dee Jota) on board – a long-standing and influential figure in the local techno scene – the label gained massive infrastructure experience and organizational momentum. Vazquez, well-known for his success as the promoter of Somnia, provided the expertise needed to take Solid Dark to the next level.

This expansion was further solidified by a corporate milestone: in 2025, Solidarity transitioned into a limited company, SDY Entertainment Ltd., with Kevin Stäger, Juan Vazquez, and David Kawka serving as members of the board. Under this new structure, Solid Dark remains an independent brand managed by SDY Entertainment Ltd. and owned by Kevin Stäger, ensuring professional management and future growth while preserving its raw artistic identity.

This structural expansion was accompanied by an uncompromising musical direction, bolstered by the involvement of Cédric Mokus, better known as Kadric. As a creative pillar, Kadric shapes the sonic identity of this transformation, ensuring that Solid Dark delivers high-quality releases that capture the zeitgeist without losing their underground character.

Today, Solid Dark represents a symbiosis of experience, passion, and technical precision. The label serves as a catalyst for artists moving beyond the mainstream, solidifying its reputation as a staple of the Swiss techno and club scene with a vision that radiates far beyond national borders.
